The Steinbergstein
The Steinbergstein is the king of tours in the region for ski tourers. There is 1400 metres altitude to tackle before you get to enjoy the descent. When avalanche conditions are good the steeper sections can also be tackled; the mountains in the main alpine ridge are always in your line of sight. During this tour the steep gully through the forest is also really impressive. Many sections are more than 50° - every bend is drowning in powder snow.
Ascent
from Steinberghaus into the valley to the valley station, there is a goods cable-car to the right. At the start via a forest road, later across the lovely slopes to Obere Steinbergalm, continuing then to the summit.
Descent
As the ascent, or as a variant, from the summit, continue via a somewhat flat ridge and a relatively steep slope to Wiesboden; from here in an easterly direction down to Niederalm, then continue down into the valley until you reach the forest road, which you proceed along until you reach the normal descent.
